Trinidad James is clearing up his controversial remark about Southern rappers running New York hip-hop.
In a statement on GoldGang TV's YouTube channel, Trinidad explains that he "wasn't trying to disrespect" New Yorkers or their hip-hop heritage when he made the remark during a show in Brooklyn last week.
He adds that New York was the "wrong place to have a barbershop conversation." Despite being in damage control mode, Trinidad refused to apologize for what he believes to be the truth.
Trinidad James' statement received heated responses from several New York emcees, including Maino, who fired off a number of Twitter messages saying James was showing "disrespect" to New York-based rappers.
