September 16th has officially been declared Gunna Day in South Fulton, Georgia. On Thursday, the city's mayor, William “Bill” Edwards, honored the Young Stoner Life rapper with his very own day by handing him a declaration proclamation to acknowledge the star's success and impact on South Fulton.

The declaration highlights Gunna's achievements as an artist, influencer and fashion inspiration after overcoming a difficult childhood and being raised by a single mother with his four brothers.

“Just like the Phoenix, rising above the ashes of adversity, Gunna is committed to giving back to the community that raised him, buffered him, sheltered him and supported him by creating Gunna’s Drip Closet and Goodr Grocery Store which is set to provide students of McNair Middle School with access to free meals, clothing and toiletries for years to come."

The city also acknowledged the "Wunna" rapper's efforts to give back to the community and his support of the people in their times of need. The honorable proclamation reads:

“Since 2018, through his Gunna Great Giveaway Foundation, Gunna has exhibited his efforts to serve the greater good, by hosting free grocery stores in the community and providing over $100,000 in gift cards to families during the pandemic and supplied thousands of families in Houston, Texas with household items after the 2021 historic winter storms.”

Gunna took to social media to share the once in a lifetime moment with a clean photo of himself, simply captioned:

“Thank You. #GunNaDAy #SOutHSiDe #DS4.”

Shortly after receiving the prestigious honor, the YSL artist went back to old junior high school, McNair Middle School, and graced the students with gifts, as well as a new school project entitled: Gunna’s Drip Closet. The generous rapper partnered with Goodr, Atlanta's Hunger Fighting Organization, for Gunna’s Drip Closet --- a grocery and clothing store inside Robert McNair Middle School in College Park. Not to mention, everything in GDC is free for all students.

Congrats to Gunna. See what the star had to say about his big day below:
