Make That An "Extremely Active" Hurricane Season

An updated forecast from Colorado State University is likely to spark another round of memes about the woes of 2020.

The revised forecast calls for 24 named storms... an "extremely active" hurricane season. And if we get that many, for only the second time ever, we'll be naming storms with letters from the Greek alphabet because we've run out of names. Remember 2005?

24 named storms is DOUBLE the number for an average season. We've already had 9 and it's just the beginning of August.

NOAA has revised its forecast as well, also calling for an extremely active season, with 19-25 named storms.
