LIL WAYNE: Fans Won’t Get Refunds

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • Can't Wayne and his goons just leave the burners at home -- or on the bus?
  • This isn't the first time he's had issues with venue security.
  • Wayne thinks the rules don't apply to him -- and when you're an artist, they typically don't.
  • Weezy's issue is with the venue but the fans are the ones who wind up suffering.
  • Weezy's team and the venue had a deal set up for him to have a private screening, but a staffer failed to coordinate that on-site.

Fans who missed out on a Lil Wayne concert last month in South Carolina are unlikely to get refunds.

Weezy bailed on a show at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina when he and his crew were required to submit to a security screening. But scheduled artists including 2 Chainz, Tory Lanez and Cardi B still played.

Fans hoping for their money back shouldn't hold their breath. A judge in Columbia temporarily put a stop to any refunds last Friday after a lawsuit was filed on Thursday by the Columbia-based promoters All for One. Lil Wayne has been named in the lawsuit, too.

All for One says the venue generally doesn't require metal detectors for performers, and thus is responsible for the "firestorm of dissatisfaction and confusion." The promoters don't want to lose their cut of the profits due to refunds over what they say was an issue between the venue and Weezy.

A hearing will take place Thursday. (The Post and Courier)
