PHARRELL: “Happy” Is Annoying

Even superstars get sick of their biggest hits sometimes. Just ask Pharrell.

On Wednesday, Skateboard P came across a tweet that said “No song annoyed me like Happy by Pharrell did.” And he didn’t just see the tweet -- he agreed with it, quoting it and writing “Same.”

First released in 2014, “Happy,” which famously appeared on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack has gone 11-times platinum and won a Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video. 

I bet those royalty checks aren’t annoying!

FRANK OCEAN: Writing and Directing

Frank Ocean continues to prove his talent knows no bounds – As he prepares to write and direct his own feature film.

Ocean has been in talks with A24 about an original movie called Philly. Shooting would take place this fall and wrap up before the end of the year. 

As an artist, Frank has lent his music to the A24 film Waves. His company is also working with A24 on a couple of other projects. 

Basketball... Game 1 of the NBA Finals tips off tonight between the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have won three of the past seven championships, and the Celtics have won titles in five different decades. Also, if Boston wins this thing, they'll get to 17 titles -- breaking a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for most in NBA history. It's expected to be a solid series. We'll soon see if it lives up to the hype.

GUCCI MANE: Artist Sentenced to Eight Years

Gucci Mane’s artist Ralo was sentenced to eight years in federal prison on yesterday. 

A post on Ralo’s IG page notes that he is being credited with four years for time served and another year and a half for good behavior, with a recommendation to wear an ankle monitor for one year after the halfway house. He is aiming to complete the GED or RDAP Drug program in hopes of getting another year taken off, which would bring him home in less than a year’s time. 

In 2018, Ralo was arrested for allegedly trafficking over $2 million in marijuana and running what feds dubbed a criminal street gang called “Famerica.”
