NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss is taking a hiatus from his as an ESPN analyst amid an ongoing health issue.
On Friday (December 6), ESPN announced that Moss will "step away from 'Sunday NFL Countdown' for an extended time to focus on a personal health challenge."
"For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating 'Countdown' with his insight and passion," the network said in a statement. "He has ESPN's full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready."
The hiatus comes after Moss announced on Sunday (December 1) that he was dealing with an "internal" health issue.
"I just ask for all the prayer warriors to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times. People were talking about my eyes last week," Moss said. "I'm battling something, man, and it's something internal. Your boy is going to get through it. I got a great team of doctors and got a great family around me."
The star wide receiver put on a pair of sunglasses after revealing his illness, saying he's wearing them due to his health issue and not for fashion.
Moss played 14 seasons in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers. During his time in the league, Moss made 156 touchdown catches, the second most in NFL history. Moss also recorded 15,292 receiving yards, the fourth all-time.
