J. Cole fuels more anticipation for his next project by surprising his fans with a brand-new song.
On Thursday night, February 20, the Dreamville co-founder uploaded his first single of the year "cLOUDs" to his blog "The Algorithim." The song is produced by himself, DZL and longtime collaborator Omen. In his blog post, Cole said he cooked up the record earlier this week and came up with the title as he uploaded the song to his website.
"Just wanted to share," he wrote. "made this a few days ago, then i added a second verse and was like 'man I got a blog now, I can put whatever I want up there.'"
"I’m Spike Lee of the audio, back in my barrio," Cole raps on the track. "Parties got shot up, so I built up all my cardio/Dodge shells collect coins like I’m Mario/But this is not a gaming experience, I’m serious."
J. Cole dropped the song a couple of days after he confirmed he'd been locked in the studio working on new music. In his previous blog post, the 40-year-old rapper explained he's been tending to his family's needs over the past several weeks. However, he managed to fit in some time to cook up something new. He didn't specify exactly what he was working on at the time, but now he's finally giving fans a glimpse of what he's been up to.
Fans are impatiently waiting on two anticipated projects, The Fall Off and It's A Boy. The Grammy award-winning rapper has yet to provide details about his upcoming projects. It's not clear where this song will end up, but for now, enjoy the track and read the lyrics here.
