NIKE UNDER FIRE
So Nike’s attempt to introduce a new headgear has backfired in a major way. New ads for their balaclava, a face covering headgear kinda like a ski-mask, are being pulled following backlash from critics who feel the item being worn by a Black model promotes gang culture.
In addition to covering most of the face, the balaclava includes straps that sorta kinda look like shoulder holsters, apparently the visual really rubbed several people the wrong way.
A Nike spokesperson did say “We are in no way condoning or encouraging the serious issue of criminal and gang culture.”
DO IT TIFFANY
Congrats are in order for Miss Tiffany Haddish. She is set to debut a brand new one-hour stand-up special on Netflix early next year.
Tiffany has had quite the year. Since her breakout role in the Girls Trip, she released her first book, The Last Black Unicorn. She debuted in her first stand-up special, Tiffany Haddish: She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood, on Showtime. She also hosted the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards, stared in a number of films, and she's set to star in three more movies this year — “Night School,” with Kevin Hart, "The Oath," and, "Nobody's Fool." And she co-stars in "The Last OG" with Tracy Morgan

I think you’ve made a big mistake on this one, targeting the current Gang culture for profit, there’s 100’s of dead kids parents that you should be thinking about before you made these, let alone put them out for sale. pic.twitter.com/lPRoYWzyWX
This is a disgrace #Nike marketing Gang Culture a £70 Balaclava. #knifecrime is out of control especially in London. Gang Culture is becoming out of control. This is disgusting gang culture fashion for profit. I can’t believe this is happening ! pic.twitter.com/w2gtAVK7Vt— Pete Price (@PeteCityPrice) August 20, 2018
