John Singleton's stroke is more dire than we thought.

Singleton is now in a coma and the family is establishing a conservator-ship for him.

Singleton, suffered a stroke last week after a flight home from Costa Rica. Initial reports described the stroke as "mild."

According to legal papers obtained by TMZ, his mother, Shelia Ward, has asked a judge to appoint her temporary conservator because he's "unable to properly provide for his personal needs for physical health, food, clothing or shelter."
