DA BRAT: Feeling Free After Coming Out

After two decades in the hip-hop game, Da Brat has officially come out, and is in a relationship with Jesseca Dupart.

The other day, she told TMZ Live, about how coming out was a weight lifted off of her shoulders. She felt imprisoned by her secret for the past 20 years, but by being with her partner Jess, she's been given confidence to live her truth

20-plus years is a long time to keep a secret. She was basically living a double life this whole time.

2 CHAINZ, T-PAIN: Supporting Small Biz

2 Chainz, T-Pain, and Leon Bridges are some of the artists scheduled to virtually perform at the Bonnaroo music festival -- to support a new concert series that will benefit “minority-owned small businesses.”

Each performance set will benefit a small business in the artist’s home town. The event will stream on June 20th on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch and Twitter.

SZA, ARI LENNOX: Crowdsourcing Black-Owned Coffee Alternatives

Artists like SZA and Ari Lennox are done with Starbucks after the memo that banned workers from wearing any type of Black Lives Matter clothing or accessories on the job.

SZA tweeted the call to action, “We boycotting Starbucks,” asking her three million followers to suggest black-owned alternatives. Ari Lennox is on the same vibe, asking her followers to shout out black-owned coffee shops and other small businesses, to make it easier for folks who want to find and support them.

Since the backlash, it seems like Starbucks has done a 180. The chain is not only allowing workers to wear Black Lives Matter clothing and accessories, but they also announced that they’re designing t-shirts, pins and name tags to show support and solidarity.

Isn’t this the same chain that wrote “Let’s talk about racism!” on cups and tried to create a dialog after two black men were arrested at one of their stores? Keep that same energy.
