What does The Weeknd, Jennifer Hudson and Megan Thee Stallion all have in common? They are among the most important people in the music biz, according to Time magazine says they rank with the most important people in the world.
The stars have all been named to Time's "100 Most Influential People" list, alongside folks like Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Anthony Fauci, Megan even gets the spotlight on one of a half-dozen different covers that appear on different versions of the mag.
THE WEEKND: Sets New Billboard Record
And speaking of The Weeknd, he just set a new Billboard record with his hit single “Blinding Lights.”
After spending 28 weeks in the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100, Abel has broken a record previously held by Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.” The song has also scored an impressive radio-related accolade, breaking a 22-year-old record held by the Goo Goo Dolls with “Iris” for the most weeks atop the Billboard Radio Songs airplay chart.
G HERBO: Buys Old Elementary School
Congrats to G Herbo who decided to give back to his community by buying his old school.
Herbo was devastated when his old stomping ground shuttered back in 2013. Since then, he’s been stacking money to buy the building. The plan is to convert it into a community center.
His charitable side doesn't stop there. On Saturday, he spent the afternoon with Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa and Joey Purp to uplift residents of the South Side. The stars led a march through the South Side and gave out more than two-thousand backpacks with school supplies and offered free COVID and HIV testing on site and voter registration.
